Emerald Ash Borer Strategic Plan Public Information Session May 6

When the Emerald Ash Borer was first identified in the Champlain Valley on a dead tree on North Street in Bristol in June 2019, it had already been here for at least five years. Since then, more ash trees have been found dead or dying from the EAB. The Bristol Emerald Ash Borer Strategic Plan Committee was formed in 2020 to identify the location and condition of ash trees along the Town roads, Town parks, and other public properties and to develop a plan with priorities for either removing them or trying to save them and what to replace them with.

The Committee is holding a public information session on Thursday, May 6, 7:00pm, by Zoom to provide an update on what they have found so far, their recommendations for managing the Town's ash trees, and a proposed timeline and budget. They will also briefly review how to identify the signs and symptoms of EAB and options citizens have for managing ash trees on their own properties. There will be opportunities to ask questions and provide feedback on the Committee's recommendations. Questions can also be submitted in writing prior to the session by e-mailing them to recreation@bristolvt.org.
