The Cabot Conservation Committee is sponsoring a spring wildflower walk on Saturday, May 8 at 1 pm, rain or shine. We will be walking trails in the Talbert sugar woods and will be accompanied by local naturalist and ecologist Brett Engstrom. It promises to be an exceptional learning experience for all ages as the woods begin to come back to life. We will be focusing on wildflowers (spring ephemerals) but noting other plants and animals along the way.
The trails are very moderate in terrain and the total distance covered will be less than 1.5 miles, with lots of stops along the way. These trails are a part of the trail network being developed by the Cabot Trails Committee.
We will require all participants to bring masks and to wear them to comply with State COVID guidelines for outdoor gatherings. For the most part, the trails are relatively dry, but wear sturdy shoes, bring water, and dress appropriately for ever present ticks.
Directions: Take Elm Street in Cabot Village (which eventually becomes Bothfeld Hill Rd) approximately one mile to the Talbert sugarhouse on the left. Park next to the sugarhouse or safely along the side of the road.
