Celebrate May Day and learn about a major event in American labor history with the Barre Historical Society's free on-line showing of "Haymarket–the Bomb, the Anarchists, the Labor Struggle," Saturday, May 1, 4-6:15 p.m. "Haymarket" investigates the 1886 Chicago Haymarket Affair, when a bomb disrupted a peaceful rally in support of an eight-hour work day. The panic and violence that followed left at least eleven people dead and led to the trial and conviction of 7 workers' rights activists.
