Green Up Day 2021 is Saturday, May 1st. Please join us for this much-loved spring tradition to clean up our neighborhood roads and waterways! This year, due to unforeseen and extenuating staffing circumstances, we have some significant changes to how we usually Green Up Bolton:
1. We do not have town staffing resources available to pick up Green Up Day litter left beside town roads on Green Up Day, Saturday, May 1st AND the following Monday, May 3rd.
2. PLEASE bring all Green Up Day litter to the town garage, where we have arranged for 2 dumpsters – one for trash and one for tires. Please do not mix trash and tires!
3. Volunteers will be at the town garage on Green Up Day to assist.
4. The two dumpsters will be available through Tuesday May 4th. Again, if you bring litter to the town garage outside of Green Up Day, please do not mix trash and tires!
5. If you are absolutely unable to bring litter to the town garage, leave it in one location and contact the Town Office to see if we can help arrange for pick up.
6. In West Bolton, if you are unable to bring your litter to the town garage, you may leave it at the Cassara/Congdon home at 3699 Stage Road. Mica Cassara has volunteered to transport litter. Thanks Mica!
7. Allison and Doug Smith have volunteered to make a couple of "sweeps" of the Bolton Valley Access Road on Green Up Day. Thanks Allison and Doug!
8. If you are on the way to the town garage with your litter and see other bags left alongside Bolton's roads, and if you have room, thank you in advance for stopping to pick up the bags.
9. Remember to send a photo of yourself with a bag full of litter to greenupbolton@gmail.com, to be entered into the Green Up Day raffle to win some local prizes!
As usual, Green Up Day bags are available at the Town Office, 24/7, in a plastic bin by the front door. We look forward to being able to return to our Green Up Day community celebration in 2022.
Our thanks to Bolton resident Jeff Downs who has already vigilantly been Greening Up Route 2. Jeff has already Greened Up from the Waterbury/Bolton town line to the Welcome to Bolton sign, in some areas twice, picking up hundreds of pounds of litter, and in one day - 331 cigarette butts. Thank you, Jeff!
Thanks in advance for being flexible and for still helping to Green Up our town!

1. Please don't bring your personal household waste, hazardous waste, electronics, propane tanks or used tires to the town dumpsters. The CSWD accepts up to 20 tires for $3 per tire.
2. COVID-19 safety: Please be mindful of distancing and wear your mask when near others. Dress for Greening Up with work gloves, boots, and long pants. Pants can help you to avoid ticks.
3. Always be mindful of road traffic and your safety, and the safety of your children.
4. Watch out for trash that looks unusual or dangerous. Report any sites that appear to have hazardous items to the Town Office.
Thank you!
