Thursday, April 22: Connecting To Nature With VT Fish & Wildlife
Ali Thomas, from VT Fish & Wildlife, will share photos and talk about the land use and wildlife management in Vermont since European colonization. She will emphasize the conservation of wildlife and habitat throughout the state.
Thursday, April 29: Black Holes And Galaxies
Join Betsy Hernandez, a researcher at Princeton University, and discover how Einstein's theory of general relativity and black holes were described mathematically before any observational evidence existed. Come learn how scientists detect these objects in space, how they are created and grow, the truth behind some common misconceptions and current areas of black hole research.
Thursday, May 20: Inside The American Museum of Natural History in New York City
Lauren Vonnahme, Senior Museum Specialist, takes you inside the American Museum of Natural History for a behind the scenes tour of the Department of Herpetology. You'll get a glimpse of their half a million reptile and amphibian specimens—one of the largest collections in the world! Afterwards, she'll teach you about frogs, snakes and turtles in your own backyard in Vermont!
Thursday, June 3: Birds, Bees and Bingo
Listen in while Christina Newkirk talks about mysterious and fascinating butterflies of the world. In this talk, Christina will give you the lowdown on butterflies, their unbelievable life cycle, their incredible diversity and their importance to humans.
