Speaker Series: Worker Owner Co-Ops, Climate, & Power

Past event
Apr 21, 2021, 7 to 8 PM

The Yestermorrow Speaker Series begins this Wednesday, April 21st through May 19th! The Spring Speaker Series line-up was crafted around the theme Design/Build for Social Justice. We are highlighting individuals and organizations actively working towards visions of equity in the trades, dignified economies, climate justice, and housing for all.

This Wednesday, April 21st at 7pm
Join Blain Snipstal & Dom Hosack from Earth-Bound Building (www.earthboundbuilding.com), a Worker-Owned Construction Cooperative in Brandywine, MD, for a wide ranging conversation on the transition to become a Co-Op, the climate crisis, and what parts are needed to create a just transition to a 'dignified and just economy'.

The folks at EBB work to build structures that are ground in nature, the people who inhabit them and having fun. However, they recognize that these buildings won't directly address the root causes of climate change, social inequities and violence.

It requires a deeper questioning and intentional process that locates our work as craftspeople within the restructuring and re-culturing of these systems with a focus on respect for people and planet.

This is a free event, though we encourage you to donate to the non-profit organizations presenting (https://www.earthboundbuilding.com/support-our-work )and/or to the Yestermorrow BIPOC Scholarship Fund (https://secure.givelively.org/donate/yestermorrow-inc/bipoc-scholarship-fund)
