Community Plant & Seed Swap and Seed Saving Workshop
We'll start things off with a seed saving workshop with Toni Kessler, Owner/Grower of West River Seeds. Then we begin the swap - where we'll exchange our extra seeds, plant starts, and perennial divisions. Come for the workshop, the swap, or both. This will be a fun and safe gathering where we can reconnect with neighbors after the long winter, and come away with some new skills and garden goodies! This annual springtime event is organized by Neighborhood Roots Food Collective and is free and open to all.
Date: Saturday, May 15, 2021 (Rain Date: May 23)
Time: 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Location: Guilford Fairgrounds - 163 Fairground Rd, Guilford
Schedule:
1:00-1:30 Seed Saving Workshop in the Cattle Barn
Curious about saving seed this year from your garden? Learn how to incorporate this into your garden plan and other seed saving techniques with Toni Kessler, Owner/Grower of West River Seeds. Toni started West River Seeds four years ago in order to adapt vegetables, herbs, and flowers to the West River Valley bioregion. Toni will also return in the fall for our Harvest Swap to show us how to collect seeds at the end of the growing season.
1:30-3:00 Plant & Seed Swap
We'll mingle and exchange our extra seeds (either bought or saved), extra seedlings, and perennial divisions. This is a casual event - just bring whatever you have to spare, and you'll come away with a few new goodies for your garden!
Registration is not necessary, but it would be helpful for our planning. Masks and social distancing will be required. Click here to let us know you're coming: https://forms.gle/KrhnEJ16FbE4BgYG9. Questions? Email info@neighborhoodroots.org or call Anna at 802-251-0330.
