ReWild Putney! Native Nut Trees For Our Community
A Putney Library Zoom Presentation
Wednesday, April 21st
7:00 PM
During the first week of May, fifty plus Putney residents will be the recipients of over 340 free nut trees, thanks to an innovative program run by 350 Vermont called Rewild Vermont. The project aims to plant 100,000 nut trees throughout Vermont over a two-year period.
At this presentation, forester Andrew Morrison will provide critical details on how to plant bare root growing stock, where to plant, and how to care for American Hazelnut, Black Walnut, and Shagbark Hickory nut trees. The presentation is highly recommended for this year's nut tree recipients.
The presentation will also be valuable for anyone considering participating in this exciting project that builds synergies between climate action, food justice, and ecological restoration. (Rewild Vermont will offer trees again in fall 2021 and spring 2022!)
