The Planning Commission is holding a public hearing on April 14 at 7pm to get community feedback on proposed Zoning Regulation revisions. The purpose is to revise regulations for home occupation contractor yards and home occupation vehicle repair services. The geographic area affected is town-wide. Work on this update started in the fall of 2019, continued more intensively in the fall of 2020, and after a recent legal review by Town counsel, it is now ready for public input.
Consistent with action item 4.3.5 of the Town Plan, the intent is to make new home occupation contractor yards more possible, while still ensuring a public review process with adequate standards to respect the use of neighboring residential properties. The changes also revise the review standards for home occupation vehicle repair services, so that they are not addressed in the contractor yard section (section 5.3), but simply as conditional use home occupations via a new section (5.1.8).
Your feedback is welcome! Feel free to contact me with questions or comments. I will forward any comments to the Planning Commission. Also, feel free to participate directly at the April 14 public hearing. It's a remote meeting via Zoom, so you can easily participate via computer or phone from home. After the public hearing, the Planning Commission will make any final revisions, and then send the proposal to the Select Board for review and action.
