This will be a virtual panel discussion on making the switch from fossil fuel to advanced, locally-sourced, wood-based systems for heating, for home and commercial owners in our area. The discussion will include:
• A background on the current state of advanced, locally-sourced wood heating in Vermont, including environmental and economic concerns for the region
• The financial incentives available for individuals and businesses to switch to advanced wood heating
• A local business owner's experience making the switch from coal to biomass heat in their multi-story downtown building
• Audience questions will follow the panelists' presentations
Moderated by Olga Peters, this event will feature:
• Emma Hanson, Wood Energy Coordinator with the VT Department of Forests, Recreation and Parks
• Ben Rankin, Sustainable Developer and local building owner
• Susan Bellville, building manager for the Fisher building's conversion to biomass heating in downtown Brattleboro
