The Vermont State Archives are a valuable resource for researchers and historians, they contain documents and items that tell much of the history of the state. They also contain interesting items and stories that don't often see the light of day. Join us as Mariessa Dobrick, Reference Archivist for the State of Vermont, presents some of the known, and lesser known things found in the State Archives.

"Tour of the Birthplace of Vermont 1771: Breakenridge Stand off, Murphy Road Bennington"

March 21st, 2021 @ 2:00 p.m.

Presenter Bob Hoar states, "The presentation follows my walking tour talking points and mimics going on the walk with me."

A story of the New Hampshire Grants and New York's claims to the land that became Vermont focusing on new information about sites related to the border confrontations and the year 1771. Included are stories about the aftermath of the Battle of Bennington such as when the captured troops went through this area with some staying at the Henry House.
