Dear Neighbors,
This coming Monday, the City Council will convene its third of three regular meetings for the month of April.
We will hold a very brief Local Control Commission meeting at 7pm where we will be voting to approve several first class liquor licenses and outdoor entertainment permits. Following this meeting, we will convene our Council meeting in Contois Auditorium in City Hall.
We will begin our meeting with a public hearing on the Community Development Block Grant proposed action plan for 2014. We will then be voting on an indoor entertainment permit for a downtown business.
We will have two presentations on Monday evening. One will be from officials at Burlington College about their Master Plan and development of their property on North Avenue. The other presentation will be from the Burlington School District on their revised School budget for FY15. As you may have read, the School Board met last week and voted to bring a 67.4 million budget to the voters in early June.
The Council will be debating and voting on one resolution, a Charter change concerning School budget approval. As I mentioned, the City Council will hear a presentation on the budget but the Council does not vote on their budget nor is it within our purview for the School District to have our authorization to place a budget increase request on the ballot. This resolution asks the Charter Change Committee to review this practice and come back to the Council with recommendations to this part of the Charter in October.
We will be voting to fill a vacancy on the Police Commission.
We will then have council committee reports, comments from councilors and the Mayor. Please keep in mind that you are welcome to come to a council meeting and speak to the Council on any subject you wish during our Public Forum which begins at 7:30pm.
Our last agenda item will be an Executive Session on collective bargaining.
Clickable agenda items can be found on the City's website:

Please keep in mind that at all Council meetings are televised live on Channel 317 on Burlington Telecom.
As always, I welcome your questions and concerns. Please email or give me a call over the weekend or on Monday. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
All my best,
Karen
