May 10 - Presentation on Gillett Pond

Past event
May 10, 2014, 5 to 9 PM

Gillett Pond, a fixture in our community for well over 120 years, is in danger of disappearing.

On Saturday evening, May 10, Bob Low will speak at “Potluck for the Pond,” a potluck supper hosted by the Richmond Land Trust to spread the word about the imminent threat to the pond and the alternatives to seeing it drained.

Bob will present a slide show describing the Pond’s origins and how it has evolved to provide important wildlife habitat, keep flood waters in check and offer our community a wonderful place to paddle, ski, skate, fish or just soak up the beauty. Bob’s superb photography alone will make for a fascinating presentation.

The event will run from at 5-9 p.m. at Richmond Elementary School and also include a rundown on the Willis Hill skating project and other Land Trust initiatives. There is no charge. Please bring a dish to share plus your plates and utensils. Soft drinks will be provided.
