Join me this evening and every Tuesday evening from 7 to 8 PM for a free guided "Do Nothing" meditation (also known as "Shikantaza" or "Just Sitting" in the Zen tradition) and talk. No prior meditation experience is necessary.
We will meet by zoom until the pandemic abates. As soon as it is safe, hopefully later this year, we will begin to meet in person at a location to be determined later.
I'm a college professor who teaches meditation both within and outside the university setting. I organize an online weekly advanced meditation discussion group and write a meditation-related blog.
My meditation practice primarily draws upon non-dualistic meditation traditions, such as Advaita Vedanta and self-inquiry. My approach to meditation and contemplative life is deeply influenced by the talks and writings of Alan Watts, as well as the depth psychology teachings of Carl Jung and several of his disciples, including James Hillman and Thomas Moore. In terms of contemporary meditation teachers, my approach is inspired in great part by J. Krishnamurti, Toni Packer, Jeff Foster and Rob Burbea.
If you're on the fence and are interested in learning more about my approach, you can browse my meditation blog here: https://www.meditator-x.com/ . In particular, you can check out the recent posts on "The Divinity of Garbage Bags" and "Doing Nothing, Dissatisfaction, and Learning To Be With What Is".
If you're interested in joining me this evening, send me a message and I'll share the link with you.
