Though the pandemic has all but brought live music to a halt there have been signs that musicians and presenters are finding ways to showcase performances in a safe manner and in real time. As we had hoped, in an effort to find the "opportunity during adversity", Valley Stage Productions (VSP) is pleased to announce the first of what we hope will be a few performances to help "fill in the gaps" during the virus.
Orkney (Scotland) born fiddler Louise Bichan and Indiana (USA) mandolinist (2014 National Mandolin Champion) Ethan Setiawan join forces to explore fiddle traditions from Scotland to Appalachia, via Scandinavia and Canada. New compositions, informed by these traditions and by the wealth of inspiration their current home of Boston (USA) has to offer, blend together with age old tunes.
This will be a virtual "streamed" live concert , recorded at the Richmond Congregational Church that you can watch on your computer, smart phone or other mobile device.
The "Premiere" performance will be available on March 11 at 7:30 p.m. at:
https://ourconcerts.live/setiawan-bichan.
Tickets are on a sliding scale; $5-$50. We appreciate your giving what you can. The concert will remain up for another 48 hours until Saturday at midnight. If you can't make the 7:30 concert you can still watch at your convenience until 11:59 on March 13.
I hope you'll have the opportunity to hear this concert that was recorded in the church a couple of weeks ago. The artists will be in a chat room during the "Premiere" performance to react to your comments and questions.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact Don Sheldon at don@valleystage.net or by calling at 802-434-4563. Hope to "see" you then.
