Standing Trees Vermont invites you to join a virtual conversation about Proforestation with Dr. William Moomaw on Wednesday, Feb. 24th at 7 PM

For years we¹ve been hearing forestry ³timber-speak² about sustainable forest management, afforestation, reforestation, and various other terms all of which ultimately involve logging. But a new word and a new concept ‹Proforestation‹ is gaining attention and deserves our support. Join Standing Trees Vermont to learn more about it from a Proforestation founder and expert. Bill Moomaw is part of a team working to change how we understand the relationships between forests, biodiversity and climate.

Following Dr. Moomaw¹s presentation there will be a discussion and Q&A about how Proforestation compares to forestry projects going forward right now on Vermont¹s federal and state public lands.

William Moomaw is Emeritus Professor of International Environmental Policy at Tufts University¹s Center for International Environment and Resource Policy. He has been a lead author of five Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change reports. He is currently Co-director of the Global Development and Environment Institute at Tufts, which he co-founded. He is also a Visiting Scientist at the Woodwell Climate Research Center in Falmouth, MA. He earned his Ph.D. in physical chemistry from MIT.
