Block Print for Beginners Workshop
2 Sessions - Wednesday, Feb 17, 6:30-8pm, & Wednesday, Feb 24, 6:30-8pm, $40
Offered by the White River Craft Center
Join us for this fun 2 part introduction to block prints with local printmaker, Janet Cathey.
What is a block print? Well, you can think of a block print as a homemade stamp. In this workshop we will use linoleum and carving tools to make our blocks. We will draw directly on the block, then learn how to safely carve and print the image. Depending on time, we may also experiment with different ways to make our images multicolored. Once the block is created, you can print with it again and again. This is a great way to make your own cards, frameable artwork, or stamped cloth shopping bags!
The first session will focus on the tools, design and cutting. The following session will introduce inking techniques. Between the two sessions, Janet will be available for questions or help as you finish cutting your block.
Participants will receive a block print kit with all the necessary materials. Tools will just need to be returned after the workshop. Paper, linoleum and ink will be kept by the participants.
