On Tuesday, February 16 at 1:30, Jeff Potash will give a virtual presentation about the "Lost Mural" which now arches over the entryway to Ohavi Zedek Synagogue in Burlington. It's been hailed as an "international treasure" and an "accidental survivor of an otherwise vanished past." Potash is an author, a former history professor and a long-standing member of Ohavi Zedek's Archives committee who has collaborated with Aaron Goldberg in helping save the "Lost Mural." He'll talk about how the history is made up of many parts: the immigration of Lithuanian Jews to this unlikely place, Eastern European folk art and theater, questions of how best to restore a rare work of religious art, and finally the engineering feat that brought it to its latest home.
