Just in time for spring, Pittsford Village Farm will host a workshop on March 13, 2021 from noon to 2:30 p.m. on the care and maintenance of fruit trees followed by a hands-on practicum for pruning. Rain date is March 20. Agriculturist and landscaper Sally Stanley will facilitate the two-hour session for those who already own fruit trees or would like to start their own home orchard. Pittsford Village Farm is located at 42 Elm St. in Pittsford.
Sally Stanley holds a bachelor of science degree in sustainable agriculture from the University of Maine. She was also the owner of Marsh River Garden and Landscaping in Maine, and is the talent behind the planning and construction of the Pittsford Village Farm Playscape.
The workshop schedule is as follows: class will take place from noon to 1 p.m. There will be a ½ hour lunch break while Sally organizes the practicum which begins at 1:30. Students will practice on the fruit trees at Pittsford Village Farm. Information on what tools to bring will be announced at a later date.
