Join Vermont Pride Theater at Chandler for its 10th Winter Benefit, ZOOMing February 6th at 7:30 pm or on demand until the 13th, for a production of Raggedy And by David Valdes. The February 6th performance will be followed by a live talkback moderated by Christine Hallquist, former gubernatorial candidate.
In Raggedy And, a fast-paced ultramodern comedy of manners, an unknown poet's selection to read at the presidential inauguration sparks both excitement and anxiety in her close circle. This would shine a media spotlight on her family's private life, with the poet pressured to define herself with a label she has avoided for years.
This Winter Benefit will be the last Vermont Pride Theater event after a ten-year run, as its mission of giving voice onstage to the issues and concerns of LGBTQ Vermonters, to build understanding between them and the wider community, has been largely achieved. Its work will continue as Chandler, which has presented VPT as part of its community outreach for ten years, plans to develop a social justice theater festival looking at a range of current justice issues.
Tickets at (802) 728-9878 or chandler-arts.org/pride-festival.
The proceeds of the evening will benefit GLBTQ Legal Advocates' & Defenders' (GLAD) transgender rights project. glad.org
