I thought many in our area would be interested in tomorrow's edition of Relocalizing Vermont, with its focus on greenhouse production and living with greenhouses. Relocalizing Vermont is broadcast Thursdays, 9:00 - 10:30 am, on WGDR Plainfield 91.1 FM / WGDH Hardwick 91.7 FM / streaming at wgdr.org

9:00 - 10:00 am
Those with greenhouses have jumpstarted spring planting, and maybe had a wonderful place to hang out on sunny late winter/early spring days. We'll talk with two greenhouse experts about what to expect when growing in or using greenhouses, and why New England would benefit from a greenhouse culture.

Jonathon Hescock designs and builds greenhouses through Vermont Victory Greenhouses in Cornwall. He'll talk about the importance of building tight, well-insulated greenhouses for growing veggies even in the darkest, coldest months of the Vermont winter, and he'll reveal the glazing that he says works better than glass in our climate.

Anna Edey built a solar-heated greenhouse with integrated chickens and rabbits on Martha's Vineyard. She has now published designs for a wide array of living structures based on lessons learned from that experience in the new book, Green Light at the End of the Tunnel.

10:00 - 10:30 am
In Resilience Thoughts, Paul Clarke describes what happened to a German town when it decided to build and own its renewable energy sources. Bucky Buckaw celebrates backyard chickening. Plus upcoming events related to energy, food, and the local economy at the end of the age of oil.
