Chittenden Asylum Seekers Assistance Network (CASAN)
We are a non-profit group of volunteers that formed to support a local mother and child while they are in the legal process of seeking asylum in our country. Asylum seekers, unlike refugees, are not allowed to receive many kinds of government assistance, nor are they are allowed to work until reaching a certain point in the application process. CASAN has fully supported this family for food, all living expenses, and housing, and the mom is now able to work and become financially independent. We have also helped several additional families in other ways.
Come to hear what has been done in first year of the network's existence, as well as ideas for assisting future families. Learn ways that you can do something to help asylum-seeking families to begin a new life in Chittenden county.
For more information about CASAN and its mission, come to a Zoom meeting at 7:00pm-8:00pm on January 26th (Tuesday)
