Winter is usually our season for monthly Themed Family Nights. Since we can't meet in person, let's try a Zoom Family Night! Please join us on Thursday, January 21st from 6:00-7:30 for Family Peace and Unity Night - an evening of art projects, booktalks, games and socializing. The projects will be simple symbols of working together for a more peaceful world (braided and knotted bracelets, a peace suncatcher, a cut-paper collage wreath). Rapid reviews will include the real story of Hiawatha (told by Robbie Robertson of The Band), new BLM titles, selections from the VT youth reading lists, and other new books titles on this theme. The interactive part will depend on numbers and ages of participants (mixed ages encouraged). It's fine to attend with a snack or dinner.
Please sign up ASAP, deadline Monday night, MLK Day, so I can prepare materials for you to pick up before the Zoom event. All craft materials will be supplied. Participants will need internet access.
Step 1: email castletonfreelibrary@gmail.com to sign up, or send a FB message with the number of family members and kids' ages.
Step 2: respond to my confirmation message, and arrange for picking up your bag of supplies from the library entryway.
Step 3: click on the Zoom link I'll send you to join the fun next Thursday.
A few Covid updates - if you want or need to visit the library in person, our current procedures are: make an appointment by calling or emailing (468-5574); one family or person at a time per floor; 15-minute limit; no public restrooms; masks, distancing, contact list and hand sanitizer required. You may call from your car to see if there is a last-minute opening, but please understand that you may need to wait outside. Our outside wifi should reach your car. Of course, please stay away if you've had known exposure or are symptomatic.
Curbside pickup requests are encouraged (long email lists are fine!), and you can access our catalog from home via the new website. Please let us know how we can help you!
