Daddy Longlegs at The Music Box on Sat. May 10!
A new trio of seasoned musicians, Daddy Longlegs, will grace the stage at The Music Box in Craftsbury on Sat. May 10 at 8 pm. The Music Box is a great place to see live music!
Daddy Longlegs is the confluence of three well known Vermont musicians: Rick Ceballos on banjo and concertina, David Gusakov on violin and Matt Witten on piano and percussion. Their talents merge to form a dynamic and highly original traditional folk trio. Along with interesting settings of Celtic and old-time tunes, Daddy Longlegs explores genres not common to the fiddle-banjo repertoire including 1930’s jazz standards, Galician airs, 16th-century dance tunes and 19th-century Americana. This talented trio creates vibrant, sensitive and surprising 21st century folk music. Rick has been entertaining New England audiences for almost forty years. Known mainly for his wide array of banjos and banjo styles, Rick is also an accomplished accordion and concertina player as well as a fine songwriter. Matt Witten got his start in a cappella groups and on the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater singing alongside Pete Seeger He has three solo recordings.David Gusakov's lifetime career as a violinist has ranged from classical, as a member of the Vermont Symphony Orchestra since 1973, to hard driving Bluegrass with Pine Island, the Will Patten Ensemble and Banjo Dan& The Midnight Plowboys. He has performed with such luminaries as Vassar Clemens, Emmylou Harris, Peter Rowan and John Denver. More can be found at www.themusicboxvt.org or 802-586-7533.
