The 15th Annual Town Tree Lighting in Salisbury will be virtual and expanded to include a tour of Diane and Wayne Smith's magical holiday kingdom. The event will start at 5 pm on Saturday, December 12th at Memorial Park (across from Maple Meadow Farm) and continue with a drive to the Smith's on North Pond Road. Our celebration is going to feature:
• Bonfire at Memorial Park
• Lighting of the magnificent Salisbury Town Tree.
• Moment of remembrance for Wayne Burlett and other beloved Salisbury residents we lost this year.
• Reading by our librarian with dedication to all the babies born this year.
• Drive and (virtual) walk through Diane and Wayne Smith's magnificent holiday village.
• Santa, of course, can't be with us in person this year. But we're hoping to reach him for a brief chat from the North Pole. Santa also has a special message for the children of Salisbury which will be posted to the Town website.
There are two ways to be a part of our celebration this year:
• Virtually, via the ZOOM platform: You can be here and interact with us in real time by going to www.zoom.us and clicking "Join a Meeting". After that, you will be asked to provide a registration number, and then a password. (You can get those numbers by calling Mary Beth (802-989-4375) or Ken (802-989-0873)
If you can't be with us in real time, Salisbury's Holiday Celebration will be posted to the Town of Salisbury's web site (www.townofsalisbury.org) and other social media platforms.
• In-Person, Sort of, from the comfort of your own vehicle: Those who are able to be in Salisbury are welcome to witness the tree lighting and bonfire from their vehicles, and then join in the drive to the Smith's display.
Important Note: The Town of Salisbury is committed to the safety of everyone during this crazy year. This celebration will be held in strict accordance with guidelines issued by the State of Vermont. As such, all events are subject to change.
