If ever there were a time calling for more light, it is now. Thanks to the generosity of several local families, the Castleton Tree of Remembrance will be lit on Friday evening, Dec. 11th at 6:00 pm. We are thrilled that this long tradition, a partnership between the Castleton Woman's Club and the Castleton Free Library, will continue this year (although in a new form), once again helping to light up Main Street.
While the new lights are real, the Tree Lighting Program will be virtual, so please, for everyone's safety, plan to gather around a computer screen with your cookies and cocoa, rather than in person. We'll use Facebook Live to broadcast the program, which will begin at the tree on the library lawn (countdown to 500 feet of colored lights!), followed by a virtual trip inside with fireside storytelling for all ages.
Spread light, joy, remembrances, and the spirit of giving - like the lights on this tree, small things, when linked together, have a powerful impact. Each light represents a loved one or special person, particularly those impacted by the pandemic. #VTLightsTheWay
If you wish, please make a small donation to the Castleton Woman's Club in honor of your special people. We have paper forms at the library, or you may simply send names of honorees with a check in any amount directly to the Castleton Woman's Club (Charlotte Capron, 201 Norton Ave., Poultney VT 05764) for their scholarship fund. Include your name and contact information. Donations must be received by Dec. 31 to appear in local papers.
For those of you without Facebook accounts, you should still be able to access the program at this link: https://www.facebook.com/castletonfreelibrary/posts/10158676352629070
Or try https://www.facebook.com/castletonfreelibrary/live/
which should link to all of our live content.
Sometimes these things can be glitchy. Call (468-5574) or email if you have questions. If you can't attend live for any reason, the program will be archived on our Facebook page and linked on our new website: castletonfreelibrary.org
