Preparing for the New Legislative Session

Past event
Dec 8, 2020, 6:30 to 8 PM

Legislating through COVID, I witnessed extraordinary challenges constituents faced in this profound time of need. As the pandemic rages on, there is so much uncertainty as we return (at least virtually) to the legislature next month. Preparing for the work ahead, I have been attending meetings on expanding affordable housing and childcare opportunities, providing a living wage, and our National Guard. The Joint Fiscal Office previewed some of the upcoming budget pressures, with or without another federal stimulus package, as COVID recovery will need to be prioritized. As well, the Democratic Caucus met to nominate our leadership for the upcoming biennium.

Hope you can join me and your other elected state officials: Representatives Ann Pugh, Maida Townsend, and Martin LaLonde along with Senator Michael Sirotkin and Senator-Elect Tom Chittenden on Tuesday December 8 at the South Burlington Library's virtual legislative forum, 6:30 – 8 pm, to share your concerns and discuss the upcoming Statehouse session.
