Visit with three live raptor " rehab patients" on November 30 at 10:00 AM, when the Community Senior Center hosts Kim Holland of the Vermont Institute of Natural Science for her online presentation about the facility's wild bird rehabilitation program.
You'll meet a barred owl, a red-tailed hawk, and a peregrine falcon, and learn how birds are admitted, diagnosed and treated. You'll also learn about the careful measures taken during treatment to ensure that birds don't get overly dependent on human care and can return safely to their habitat.
This year alone, over 900 injured or orphaned birds have been treated at VINS. Open to the public year-round, the 47-acre site in Quechee, Vermont features raptor enclosures, songbird aviaries and a recently-added ADA-accessible elevated forest canopy boardwalk.
For the internet link to the online presentation, contact Martha: martha@cscvt.org. Those new to joining online meetings can request phone support from a CSC volunteer coach. Please note, you do not need to be a senior to participate!
