The COVID-19 crisis and a tense election season with contested results have served to accelerate the proliferation of online hate content and recruitment, especially among young people. Nearly 93% of people in households with school-age children reported their children engaged in some form of distance learning. Young people are spending more time online than ever before during a period of great social, political and economic uncertainty, making them susceptible to extremists who exploit valid fears, anxieties and economic grievances. Now more than ever, adults must be equipped with the tools to help children navigate internet spaces and resist extremists who are taking advantage of this time of unrest.

During the webinar, participants will learn tangible steps to reduce harm and counter the threat of online radicalization. Six practitioners will be participating in the panel to share their insights as parents, educators and intervention experts:

Jessica Acee (she/her), Senior Fellow at Western States Center
Cory Collins (he/him), Senior Writer for Teaching Tolerance
Akiko Cooks (she/her), Co-Founder of No Racism in Schools #1865
Brian Hughes (he/him), Associate Director of PERIL
Shannon Foley Martinez (she/her), PERIL Consultant
Jack Michael (she/her) Artist, College Arts Educator, Public Speaker

The Building Resilience & Confronting Risk in the COVID-19 Era guide is also available for free, and we encourage you to share it with anyone who may be supporting young people through this difficult time. For more info. contact:
