On Thursday, November 12th at 8 pm Vermont PBS will broadcast "The Photo Lounge Chronicles: Dan Higgins", a film by Eleanor Lanahan documenting Dan's fifty years documenting varied aspects of life in Winooski, Vermont.
Dan's work includes photographs of residents and rare videos of the town's ongoing efforts to adapt to change after the closing of the Woolen Mills, Urban Renewal demolition, resettlement of New Americans, and the influx of F-35s on direct flight over the town.
Higgins works collaboratively with his subjects and he exhibits the work locally, believing that a place only becomes a community when the stories of residents are shared. Included in the film is Dan's work with Burlington's sister city of Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua, and viewers are able to revisit an era when Higgins' Photo Lounge was ground zero for Halloween activity.
