Please note: Due to the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, the Heavenly Food Pantry will have its Thursday distribution on November 19. Also, this month marks the beginning of changes to the delivery method for the pantry to allow continuity of service through the coming winter months. Please follow the directions of food pantry volunteers to help keep everyone safe!
The Heavenly Food Pantry, located at the First Congregational Church in Essex Junction, will be distributing food to families who reside in Essex, Essex Junction and Westford on Monday, November 9, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Participants may enter the distribution area through the Church St. entrance, where they will be given a number and ushered to a parking spot. A volunteer will then approach the vehicle where families will be asked to show proof of residence and identification for each family member. After the family's food has been assembled inside the building, the family will be instructed to drive to the entrance door in the parking lot, where the Food will be deposited into vehicle trunks by volunteers who will maintain social distance from persons in the car. We do ask that those visiting the pantry wear face coverings to ensure health and safety to all involved. We have shopping carts available for use by those who do not have a vehicle and live a short distance from the church. If you are unable to attend but need food help, call the church office at 878-5745 and let Pastor Josh Simon help find a way to get the food to you!
We are always looking for people who want to get involved in this great endeavor to feed the community? Follow this link to sign up to help: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b0a48aaad2ca2ff2-monday.
There are separate shifts available for those under age 65 who want to help prepare by packaging fruits and vegetables, as well as those ages 16-65 who want to be part of the distribution process.
Our next food distribution is Thursday, November 19, from 2:00-6:00 p.m. There are currently no restrictions as to how many times per month families may visit.
