Newspapers are a great place to learn details of our ancestors' lives using birth announcements, court cases, death notices, obituaries and local history. In this talk, Marcie Crocker will give examples of what you can find, the types of questions they can answer, some strategies to get the most out of these databases, as well as where to find them. Join us and learn why online newspapers should be a major weapon in your genealogical toolbox. A handout with additional information and resource links will be provided.
On Nov. 7th, Marcie will discuss her favorite free sites for online newspapers & how to use them. These include "Chronicling America", Ancestry's VT papers (free to Vermonters) and two big New York collections.
Classes at the Vermont Genealogy Library this fall will be on-line presentations using Zoom. They take place on Saturday mornings from 10:30 to noon, including Q & A. The class fee is $10.00. To read more and to register, go to our website www.vtgenlib.org.
