Our agenda is brief but important, focusing only on the elections next week.
Following public forum, we will get an update on the voting process to date and any important reminders for voters to know prior to the election. Yesterday, I was on a zoom meeting for all poll workers citywide. The City is prepared for these elections and is working hard to see they run smoothly. Many thanks to Rob Backus and Kirsten Wilson and over 70 Ward 6 residents who are helping at the polls. We could not hold elections without the dedication and behind-the-scenes work of so many of our neighbors. (If you wish to express your thanks, food donations for poll workers, preferably packaged and healthy, will be welcomed and greatly appreciated.)
Three dropboxes around the city, including one at DPW on Pine Street and another on the Main Street side of City Hall, are available for ballots. You can drop ballots off at Edmunds on November 3 and you can also vote in person, masks and social distancing required.
We will be voting on a resolution affirming our commitment to ensuring all citizens are able to exercise their right to vote along with notice that anyone attempting to impede the election process will be dealt with according to law. The resolution further affirms our commitment to honor the outcome of the election and call upon our nation to ensure a smooth transition of power should there be a change in leadership in Washington.
If you have any questions about Election Day, you can visit https://www.burlingtonvt.gov/CT/Elections which includes an FAQ and information on voting. Or, please reach out to me and I will get you answers to any questions or concerns you may have.
I will be at the polls most of the afternoon on November 3 to help out and will look forward to seeing some of you albeit from a distance.
My best,
Karen
