Food heritage often tells a parallel history of a society's history, culture, and interactions. The history of what we now consider cocktails was not always for pleasure. In some cases they staved off illness such as scurvy, malaria, or parasites. In others they became the center of major periods of American history. The class will be taking a look at the history of cocktails, from their medicinal origins starting in the late 17th century to the present. Learn the history of some of your favorite cocktails along with how to make them along with ways to play on them. This session will take us from Prohibition Through The Depression.
