The Bristol, Lincoln, Monkton, New Haven & Starksboro fire departments are once again coming together to conduct a food drive for the Have-A-Heart Food Shelf which serves all five communities.
Last year the five fire departments collected over 5,000 lbs. of food and slightly more than $1,000 in donations.
Kathy Burritt of the HAHFS shared the following:
The Have a Heart Food Shelf has come to rely heavily upon the Bristol Fire Department's Annual October Food Drive. The Food Shelf serves over 65 families monthly from the five town region.
Currently our food supply is very low. This annual food drive will fill the shelves and get us through the winter when demand usually increases. We are very grateful to the Fire Fighters for their service to our community and for this Annual Food Drive.
SUGGESTED DONATIONS:
Spaghetti Sauce, veggies, soup, tuna, fruit, beans, peanut butter, cereal, rice, mac & cheese, juice, pasta.
Toilet Paper, deodorant, toothpaste & brushes, bar soap, laundry soap, shampoo & conditioner (items not covered by food stamps)
Holiday Items; Canned pumpkin, stuffing mix, cranberries, evaporated milk, turkey gravy, pie crust.
Please consider donating to this effort. Each fire department in our community will open the station doors on Saturday, October 24th from 9am to noon.
