Righting Your Writing at the Varnum Library

Past event
Apr 24, 2014, 6:30 to 8:30 PM

In both personal and business lives, unclear and wordy communication loses time, money—even relationships. The Varnum Library in Jeffersonville is hosting a free 3-part workshop series: Righting Your Writing. Linda Bland, a local author and educator will lead three Thursday evening programs designed to help anyone clarify their writing and use fewer words to convey their message.
Do you think you use more words than necessary, yet can’t figure out how to be more concise? Does anyone ever misunderstand your written intention? This workshop is not rules-driven; instead Linda Bland shows you how to weed your writing of extraneous words and clarify what you mean. Discover how to empower your message, so you get the response you seek. With e-mail as your primary business communication tool, writing skills are more important than ever to your career. Whether you are writing an e-mail, a book, or a business report, come learn new effective skills you will use the very next time you write.
The Varnum is proud to bring this free writing series to the community. A published author, Linda helped employees and executives improve their written expression for 21 years at IBM, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Fletcher Allen, Burton Snowboards, and the State's Learning Center. Linda also taught at six local colleges, including MBA programs. At the Varnum Library many of us enjoy Linda’s clarity and humor leading the spirited Reading and Discussion Series during the winter months.
This program is Free and the public is invited. Please join us on Thursday, April 24; from 6:30-8:30 pm. at the Varnum Memorial Library in Jeffersonville. For more information call the Library at 644-2117.
