As many of you know the town is in the process of purchasing 200 acres of property to create a Huntington Community Forest. This land connects to the Brewster Pierce School property. My understanding of this acquisition is that the land will be reserved and protected so that town folks can use it for recreation. Right now there is a discussion about whether or not to allow hunting and trapping on this property. I am not sure how folks feel about hunting and trapping on this land and whether or not folks believe this activity is compatible with public recreational use. There is a wide consensus that this is inviting unintended consequences that could be hazardous and many believe Our Community Forest should be a place where everyone can feel safe. I hope you can share your thoughts. Here is the link to the Virtual Forum scheduled for October 21st at 7 p.m.
