Understanding & Using Your DNA Test Results

Past event
Oct 17, 2020, 10:30 AM to 12 PM

Many genealogists' initial reactions to their DNA test results are information overload and confusion. If you are awaiting results or have already received them, then this presentation can help you move from bewilderment to understanding. Ed McGuire will discuss the results from each major company including ethnicity maps, lists of DNA matches and specialized analysis tools. Using actual results, he will demonstrate how to leverage this data to identify other testers who could have the records needed to solve your brickwalls. Whether you tested with Ancestry, MyHeritage, 23andMe or FamilyTreeDNA, this talk will help you understand how to quickly get the most from your DNA test results. A handout will be provided with key background information as well as the best online & print resources. Classes at the Vermont Genealogy Library this fall will be on-line presentations using Zoom. They take place on Saturday mornings from 10:30 to noon, including Q & A. The class fee is $10.00. To register go to our website www.vtgenlib.org.
