Racial Justice in Vermont: Three Black Perspectives

Past event
Oct 20, 2020, 7 PM

On October 20, 7 p.m. join three Black Vermonters to understand the challenges of racial justice from three different leadership roles within prominent institutions of Vermont. At this forum, you will hear from: Jason Broughton, Vermont State Librarian; Dr. Emily Bernard, UVM's Julian Lindsay Green & Gold Professor and author of the award winning book, "Black is the Body"; and The Rt. Rev. Dr. Shannon MacVean-Brown, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Vermont.

The three panelists will discuss their experiences living and working in a largely White state and offer suggestions for actions Vermonters can take to promote racial equity in the communities in which we belong. Remarks will be followed by a question period and attendees will be guided to resources for further learning and action.

Visit worthenlibrary.org to register for this free Zoom event. This program may be recorded and resources will be posted on the Library's website, www.worthenlibrary.org, after the event to further discussions throughout the state.
