Bixby Library | Virtual Sauerkraut Making Workshop

Past event
Oct 17, 2020, 10 to 11 AM

Whether the idea of fermenting your own sauerkraut intimidates you or you’re a seasoned pro, join Adult Services Librarian Ashley for a virtual sauerkraut making workshop. The first 20 participants will receive a free kit including a cabbage (generously donated by Elmer Farm), caraway seed, salt, and other necessary materials (limit one kit per family, please). Participants will need to provide their own mixing bowl, cutting board and knife, and small weights (marbles, clean stones, etc.). We will discuss the history of sauerkraut and fermentation, and you will finish class with a jar of sauerkraut (ready in just a few days) and a book list for your future fermentation projects. Sign up for your kit here (https://bit.ly/3npFxVi) and sign up for the Zoom class through the link below. Please contact Ashley (ashley.bolger@bixbylibrary.org) with any questions.
