On Saturday afternoon October 24, 2020 at 4:30PM the Stowe and Morrisville ROTARY Clubs will join for a ceremony at the Stowe March of Dimes Monument on the Mayo Farm Road (near Weeks Hill RD) in Stowe to recognize our Rotary's efforts to combat the world wide polio epidemic.
The monument is a unique, one-of-a-kind item that commemorates the first infantile paralysis case in the United States. The polio outbreak occurred in Vermont's Otter Creek Valley in 1894.
Rotary members world-wide have contributed more than $2.1 billion and countless volunteer hours to protect nearly 3 billion children in 122 countries from this paralyzing disease. Rotary's advocacy efforts have played a role in decisions by governments to contribute more than $10 billion to the effort.
We have this ceremony to continue our local contributions to this effort. Please join us for this short but meaningful event. If you cannot join us please feel free to mail a contribution to "Rotary Polio Foundation", PO Box 365, Morrisville VT 05661
