Scarecrow Building Contest at the Playscape

The Guilford Recreation Commission is pleased to announce 'Scarecrows In The Park' a Scarecrow Building Contest at the Guilford Center Village Natural Playscape at 70 Carpenter Hill Rd. Guilford, VT. The registration for this free event will begin on October 1st. Scarecrow building will begin on Thursday, October 4th and continue through Saturday, October 24th. The community will vote on their favorite scarecrows between October 25th through the 30th. The Scarecrows with the top votes in each of the 6 categories will receive a customized trophy!

Where: Guilford Center Village Natural Playscape
70 Carpenter Hill Rd. Guilford, VT
(Just up the road from the Guilford Free Library)

When: Registration between October 1-24
Scarecrow building at the Playscape between October 4th- October 24th.
Community voting at the Playscape, via. paper ballot, between Oct. 25-30th.
Winners announced on Saturday, 10/31 on the Guilford Recreation Website.

How:
Free registration on the Guilford Recreation Website. Registration will require your name, tel. # and email address. You will receive an email reply with your scarecrow number.

Build your scarecrow at the Playscape between October 4 - 24th (straw, stakes, twine, mallet and scissors will be provided onsite). Feel free to bring additional tools and supplies to complete your project. (No power on site).
place your assigned number in a prominent location with your scarecrow for voting purposes
please select a location that is at least 20' from another scarecrow.
Participating businesses are asked to post the name of the business with the scarecrow to note eligibility in the "Best Business/group scarecrow" category.

The community will vote onsite, via paper ballot, starting October 25th
One vote/person for the best scarecrow in each of the following categories:
Most Creative
Most Scary
Most Funny
Most Cute
Best Celebrity/character look alike
Best Business/group scarecrow

Votes will be tallied and winners will be announced on the Guilford Recreation Website on Saturday, October 31st.

Top votes received in each category will receive a custom trophy. Trophies can be picked up at the Guilford Free Library (https://www.guilfordfreelibraryvt.org/) during their business hours, beginning on Tuesday, 11/3/20.
