National Alliance on Mental Illness Vermont aka NAMI VT Walk Your Way is this Saturday starting at 12N . Come and decorate your car and drive with us through Burlington to promote awareness around Mental Health. Go to https://www.namiwalks.org/ for more information.
Staff and volunteers at NAMI VT have worked hard to provide meaningful educational programs, provide support to those in need and advocated for improved services for those with mental health challenges throughout the state. The good news is that now these efforts have helped to create an organization that is reputable and credible. Local and state organizations such as hospitals, housing coalitions, police departments, and state legislators are requesting input and staff representation from NAMI VT on committees for ongoing projects, planning and legislation. The difficult news is that as this year has dealt with the pandemic, donations to NAMI VT have been significantly reduced. It is critical that we reach our NAMI Walk goal of $40,500 this year.
Vermont has the second highest suicide rate in the country. We need to do better. NAMI VT is currently providing a program called "End the Silence" free of charge to middle and high school students to educate them about mental health challenges and to encourage students to support each other to get help if needed. Several schools have requested this program, but we need more funding to meet the demand.
Please consider donating to my team Minds Matter 2. You can go on line to this link: https://www.namiwalks.org/participant/321932 and donate directly on line.
