Full Moon Drum Circle

Past event
Oct 1, 2020, 6 to 8 PM

Last week's Equinox Drum Circle was so much fun, that we're doing it again! We jammed with folks of all ages and abilities... some brought drums, and some beat on buckets and boxes. Some swayed with the meditative rhythm, and some listened in while munching on pizza. Don't have an instrument? Anyone can make a shaker or a woodblock or sing or chant or dance or or or...

Together with BUNDLE, we invite you to join us once again at Riverside Park in Middlebury (by the big yellow chair!) for a Full Moon Community Drum Circle from 6pm until dusk.
Grab your drum, wear your mask, and meet us by the waterfall! There are lots of great restaurants right in town offering takeout, so you can even bring a picnic dinner. Be sure to space your blanket or chairs out for safe social distancing, and let's drum together!

Why drumming, you ask?
Benefits for the community:
Drumming activities are on the rise in many institutions, from schools to hospitals to corporate retreats. And for good reason. Drum circles:
~ are enjoyable for all ages, from preschoolers to senior citizens
~ require no prior training or experience to participate
~ are free and accessible to all citizens
~ need no special equipment: participants can bring drums or engage through other instruments, voice, movement, yoga, meditation, and even use homemade percussion

Benefits for the individual:
Group drumming is also becoming a widely used form of sound therapy. It is proven to have multiple physical and emotional benefits, such as:
~ Improved aerobic and cardiovascular systems
~ Strengthened immune system
~ Improved mood and reduced burnout of workers under stress
~ Reversed ravages of stress at the cellular level
~ Reduced anxiety, depression and feelings of loneliness
~ Help coping with depression and trauma

Be safe: Wear your mask, space yourself out from others, pack some hand sanitizer, and please stay home if you have any symptoms.

Save the Date 10/31: Halloween Blue Moon Drum Circle - costumes encouraged!
