The Cross Vermont Trail Association and Newbury Conservation Commission are excited to announce this special roundtrip edition of their Fall Foliage Bike Ride!
This year's route will have simplified logistics and be a roundtrip ride within the beautiful confines of the Groton State Forest (versus the traditional one-way). This section of the Cross Vermont Trail (CVT) will follow the historic Montpelier - Wells River Railroad, taking us in and out of woodlands and past secluded lakes. The Groton State Forest should be in all its fall glory and at near peak in terms of color.
We'll start at Upper Valley Grill in Groton and head west on the CVT to the 4 corners at Lanesboro. We'll then turn around and ride back to Upper Valley Grill. Trip distance is about 16.5 miles round trip. Ride time should be approximately 1.5-2 hours for most participants.
For a shorter family-friendly ride (good for those with younger children or less experienced riders) we suggest Boulder Beach Rd. as a turnaround point. Trip distance is just under 11 miles.
