Educating about and advocating for universal health care

OPS Office Hours in an online forum for networking with other advocates, learning about single payer, learning about how to advocate for it, and getting specific help from other advocates for problems you face. Multi-topic sessions provide opportunities for one-on-one consultation, while single-topic forums are more focussed.

Tuesday, September 22 OPS Office Hours will be a multi-topic session. Starting at 7 PM ET, Doors open for networking.

7: 30 PM ET Gerald Friedman is a guest speaker on "What we must do today to achieve universal health care tomorrow." If there is time and desire after Q+A, we will go to breakout rooms to make plans for taking action based on his talk.

Gerald Carl Friedman is an economics professor at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He became nationally prominent during the 2016 U. S. presidential election after writing an analysis of Democratic Party candidate Bernie Sanders campaign's policies in which Friedman concluded that these policies would produce significant economic growth in the United States if they were enacted.

8: 30 Ashwin Shetty will give a Single Payer 101 talk, walking listeners through the basics of how to choose a private health insurance plan offered by an employer, and how much simpler and more reliable, affordable, and predictable health care would be with single payer health coverage. His talk will be short, with plenty of time for questions.

Ashwin is a student on the leadership team at Louisiana State University School of Medicine's chapter of Students for a National Health Program (SNaHP).

People who already understand the basics of Single Payer are welcome to go into breakout rooms on specific topics by indicating next to their name tag the name of the room they wish to join.
