Sterling College students and staff will be presenting a staged reading of Howard Zinn’s play “Daughter of Venus.” It will be held at the Art House in Craftsbury Common on Saturday, April 26. Doors open at 7 p.m.
“Daughter of Venus” was first published in 1985 and debuted at New York’s Theater for the New City. It is a family drama, originally set in the context of the campaign for nuclear disarmament. After the end of the Cold War, Zinn felt the play had become outdated, and so updated it to make the play more topical to reflect the pervasive climate of anxiety about terrorism.
Admission is by donation. There will be a five minute intermission during the reading.
