A Bear's-Eye View of Its Vermont Habitat

Past event
Sep 22, 2020, 10 to 11 AM

On September 22 at 10:00 AM via Google Meets, the Community Senior Center hosts Vermont Fish and Wildlife Conservation Planner Jens Hawkins-Hilke for an on-line presentation that reveals a look at the area's landscape through the eyes of a black bear.

Jens describes the patterns bears see in forests and fields and explains how they use them to meet their everyday needs and adjust their territorial ranges in the face of a changing climate. In particular, he examines the specific landscape of what's known as Vermont's Chittenden Uplands and how it plays a role in bears' lives. He also talks about living with bears in local communities and what residents can do to stay safe.

All are welcome! You do not have to be a senior to participate. For the internet link and sign-on instructions to Jens' live video presentation on September 22 at 10:00 AM, email in advance of the event to martha@cscvt.org. Those new to on-line programs can also include a phone number and request a call from an experienced CSC member who will guide them through the steps to get on and be ready to enjoy the program.
