It's so easy to come together in joy but it is so powerful, and rare, to come together in grief. There is a lot to mourn right now- all of the Covid-19 fears and deaths, the pains of racism exposed and tender, the loss of "normal life" and routine and of course the regular deaths by age, illness or accident. Some of us are sad because we still miss those who have died years ago... There is no time limit to the losses that you feel. This is a day reserved for our community to recognize all of these stressors and losses and to come together in our sadness.
Walking labyrinth, central fire, music, memorial shrines, warm drink, silent vigil time and memory sharing. If the weather allows there will be tightwire walking. Smiles, laughing and playing are definitely appropriate as well as tears and walking the labyrinth is silence! This can be a moving experience for all ages.
Stop by at any time during the day to walk the labyrinth and add to the shrine. Bring photos of your departed loved ones or family pets, flowers, candles, poems, or just come see what others have contributed. The labyrinth will be illuminated in the evening when it's dark enough. Gathering around 6:30 pm for hot cocoa and cookies.
Please wear masks and stay socially distant.
