Civil War Reenactor, Reginald Melrose, will march to Moore cemetery in Williston (across from Stove and Flagworks) to honor Newell Langley. Langley, a Black Union soldier from Hinesberg, VT, joined the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry. The soldiers of the 54th regiment were the Army's first black soldiers and were portrayed in the movie, Glory.
Melrose will give a brief account of Black Civil War soldiers from VT, and take questions.
